Avatodo privacy

Updated 4 November 2026 · Applies to the Avatodo beta

Avatodo is an independent iPhone and Apple Watch companion made by Daniel Homola. There is no Avatodo account or hosted app backend. Notes are stored in the app on your iPhone. AI features connect directly to Meta using your own API key.

What stays in the app

Your saved notes, checklists, companion artwork and settings are stored locally. The paired Watch receives the information it needs to show the companion and handle your requests. Avatodo does not provide cloud note sync in this beta. Apple device backups may include local app files, depending on your backup settings.

Conversation context is temporary, held in memory, discarded when you start fresh, and expires after five idle minutes. The model receives at most six complete recent exchanges. Saved notes remain after a conversation ends.

Voice and Apple services

When you choose to talk, Avatodo records audio for that interaction. Watch audio is relayed to your paired iPhone for speech recognition. Apple speech recognition runs on the iPhone when supported; otherwise it may use Apple’s speech services. Microphone and speech access require your permission. Avatodo does not save voice recordings as conversation files or send raw voice audio to Meta. Spoken replies use Apple’s speech synthesis.

What is sent to Meta

Meta AI features are for people aged 18 or older and require your consent and an internet connection. For a reply or note action, Avatodo sends your typed message or finalized transcription, temporary conversation context, an index of up to 80 note titles and identifiers, and relevant note content. When you choose “Update this note,” that note is provided as context. For companion creation, your character description is sent to Muse Image.

Your API key authenticates requests directly to Meta and is stored in iPhone Keychain. It is not sent to the Watch or an Avatodo server. Meta processes requests under its own service terms and privacy practices; its retention rules are separate from Avatodo’s local storage. Review the terms and privacy information for your Meta API account before sending sensitive information. Model usage charges may apply.

Your controls and retention

You can edit or delete notes, start a fresh conversation, remove your API key, and withdraw permission for Meta requests in Settings. You can also revoke microphone or speech permission in Apple’s device settings. Withdrawing Meta permission stops new AI requests; it does not retract data already sent to Meta.

Deleting a note removes it from your note list. Local Undo and request recovery records can retain earlier or deleted note content. Previous companion image files can also remain in the app’s storage. Removing the app’s local data clears these files; existing device backups may retain copies. Remove the API key explicitly in Avatodo before uninstalling if you want it removed from Keychain.

Website and beta feedback

This website has no analytics scripts, advertising or account system. Vercel hosts the website and Cloudflare provides domain services; those providers may process ordinary request information such as IP addresses and browser details to deliver and protect the site. Apple handles TestFlight installation, diagnostics and feedback under its own terms. Feedback you choose to send through TestFlight is made available to the developer.

Contact and changes

Beta testers can contact Daniel Homola using “Send Beta Feedback” in TestFlight. You can also find the developer’s public profile on GitHub. Updates to this policy will be published here with a revised date.
